Cute vintage clothing displays in the windows definitely caught my eye, so happy I finally got a chance to check it out today. Every time I walked by the place (usually on my way home from the Bistro) it was closed.
They carry really cute vintage/ pin up style clothing for men, women and kids. Lots of accessories, hats, dresses and cool vintage tee's. I was really surprised that they have a full salon in the back and barber shop called Vintage Alley Salon. So happy that this is downtown Hayward.... it totally needed a place like this. I love it and will definitely be back !!!!
Awesome items. Nice selection of vintage clothing. Great local establishment. Great customer service. Lots of great hair clips, necklaces and the like. And like another Yelper mentioned, there's a salon in the back.
I set the rollover price to 3 $ signs, but that's only because from my perspective it seems a little steep. I suppose if I had others to compare it to, it might seem very reasonable/cheap in comparison. I hope they stay around, it's a great little store.
Went in one week after my first visit and was so surprised they already had a few new things, some new shirts, new dresses, and new purses. One of the owners Alfred remembered me which was really nice. He said they try and get at least one new dress a week. This store is going to be very dangerous for me!!!
Stopped by looking for men's clothes...it's a limited selection. Good selection of hats, fedora's mostly, some caps. No ties, pants or shoes. Shirts were limited to fifties style tees and collard shirts.
But, since hats are my thing...it's a great local store!!!
Located across the street from Buffalo Bills Brewery.
Super cute store and a great addition to the Hayward downtown shopping area. Sells well know vintage inspired brand clothing and accessories. They carry a lot of "Stop Staring" dresses. I would love to see them carry some more moderately priced dresses from brands like Hell Bunny, Too Fast, Sourpuss etc. I also would like there to be more purses and wallets. They only had a few when I went in. They had tons of cute stickers, cute jewelry, hair clips and the like. I like to support small local mom and pop shops and this one is definitely on my rounds when I'm in the mood for some retail therapy.
This place is great!!! I stoped in and was greeted instantly with a warm genuine "hello, how are you?". I looked around and easily found a shirt I liked and then was helped by one of the owners in finding a belt buckle that is awsome. I am definitely going back.
This is a cute store & the proprietors seem really nice. First time I was able to see some Stop Staring clothing in person. It was cute but honestly I felt like a lot of the repro vintage stuff was cheaply made/not my style/too young for me. I think if you're young & into the rockabilly scene you'll love this store. I thought it would be cool if Vintage Alley had a mix of vintage and new. I'm personally more into real vintage, musty smells and all. They could also offer a bigger range of sizes.
What a find. I had no idea this place existed until I was invited to see a cinecast of Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me with Linda M. I talked to the staff and they have been around for about a year and a half so that explains why I never knew about this place before. Downtown Hayward is starting to get more cool little shops in the area.
According to their cards, they carry classic, retro, rockabilly, pin up, ol' skool and inspired classic culture clothing. The items are new vintage inspired items and most seemed to priced on the higher side.
All sales are final so make sure you really love what you're buying. I ended up picking up a pretty rad Sun Records t-shirt. You know me and my music...well, maybe you don't.
Staff here are super sweet and friendly so I'll be sure to stop in again next time I'm in the area.
They also have a salon in the back so if you want a cute 50's style up do I'm sure they can do that here.
They live up to their name vintage inspired attire for the fellas, gals and babies.
I took a quick glance since I was in the area. Very cute female attire to choose from; dresses, shirts and t-shirts. The prices for the dresses were a tad too steep for me (around $150-$170. for the few I was interested in) Sizes are small through extra large. Most t-shirts were $25.
There were a few pieces of jewelry on display, hair accessories, purses, small coin purses and wallets.
A small selection for the kidos with t-shirts and onesies. Super cute.
The men's section had a lot of bowling style shirts and hats. I was in hat heaven, there must have been around 20+ fedoras.
In the back there is a hair salon and one changing room.
While here two employees greeted me and offered help. One of the ladies (possibly the owner?) gave me their business card and flyer. She also said to check the Facebook to find out about sales and events.
The store is very clean and the racks are organized. When looking through the t-shirts make sure to look through each one since there are a few different screens hanging on the same rack.
Vintage Alley Salon is located in the boutique. Every one here is so friendly and professional. Hair stylist, Leilani, did my color and highlights. I'm very happy to have found a stylist that is so passionate and knowledgeable about hair. Thank you very much!
Went here a few weeks back with a friend of mine. We were blown away from how cool this shop is! Tons of cute stuff. The ladies working were very sweet and welcomed us in without sounding forced haha. Cool vibe and felt at home with friends:) Really want to go back and also want to try out their salon!
Leilani has done my hair twice now & I have been pleased with the results. Initially I told her that I wanted a new 'do which worked with my naturally wavy hair. At my request she took off about 7 inches, & gave me a versatile easy to manage look which allows me to wear my hair wavy or straight. In addition she gave me a much needed dye job in an eye popping, vibrant red shade. I immediately received a ton of compliments on my hair & continue to receive compliments on my hair after visiting her a second time where she removed a little more length from my hair (again, at my request) & texturized my ends. Her ability to listen & then respond with her scissors is A-MAZING & even though I love my old hairstylist, I will continue to go to Leilani. In addition to her amazing work, her prices are extremely reasonable. She's the bomb & I dig her retro rockabilly style with victory rolls & hair flower in place. Go see her.
This store is so cool !! I'd give them 10 stars if I could !!! great stuff, I hate to shop but I love to shop here !! Cool vintage clothing and HATS HATS HATS For the fellas !! Cool hairstylists too !!!
Someone mentioned the old barber? My personal opinon was that he was a jerk, I found myself in his chair one day and he was like this Know-it-all dude. totally understand why he's gone.
anyways, The owners are great and the stuff they sell is so unique. HAYWARD NEEDS MORE STORES LIKE THIS !!!
Darling! Absolutely, the most darling and wonderful boutique I've been too! My husband and I stopped by today and went on a shopping spree for our upcoming trip to Napa. We were greeted right away by Alfredo and began our vintage adventure. I believe Alicia helped me, I'm so bad with names, but whoever that angel was she set me up with a fitting room and helped me find a dress for the trip! My husband tried on a couple of the retro bowling shirts & found one that matched my dress & his super chill personality. Then with Alfredo's assistance & expertise, he paired it up with a hat & looked like a handsome, young, retiree ;) aside from our napa clothes my husband bought another fun shirt & I treated myself to a shirt & wallet. Thank you Vintage Alley!
I love this place! I have a vintage look in my rooM And when I found this place I was in heaven! I wanted to take everything home! Defiantly somewhere to shop for that unique gift or just picking something up for your self! Love love love it!
To be remembered is one of the best things ever. That's what I got when I came back to this store after going there with my sister the first time. I asked the man at the register, who helped us on our previous trip, if he remembered the hat my sister was looking at. And he did! He even recalled why she liked it and the fact that she was looking over it so much. The staff is quite amazing and very personable, and both trips there were pleasant. Even though it was around a week since our last visit, the fact that the employee remembered who we were and what my sister wanted was such a plus.
The quality of the products sold is definitely worth every cent you spend on it. And they have a salon in the back! Oh they fancy huh.
There's high quality people working there, and that's something you don't find that often. I'll definitely be coming back to look more at the rest of their products and services.
Wow! So glad I found this great shop. I actually found it searching Yelp for vintage clothing. I has no idea it was right here in my hometown. They are extremely friendly and helpful. The owner even pulled stock from the back for me when I asked for something that I didn't see on the racks. They carry women's dresses, skirts, shirts, blouses as well as men's clothing and some items for small children. Great men's hats. Many purses and accessories. Everything is beautiful and well made. I have been looking for a new hairstylist and they have a salon too! Alicia did a great job with my curly hair. I will definitely be back and will bring friends. My 89 year old aunt was with me and LOVED the shop. The only reason I gave 4 vs 5 stars is that I wish they carried more in larger plus sizes. I wear a 16/18 and some of the 3xl items were too small. Though not the store's fault, different brands sizing run VERY different. I did find a bunch of items that did fit. LOVE the items I walked out with! Thank you, thank you!
If you live anywhere near Hayward and love old timey things like, classic cars, cool haircuts, vinyl records and all the other stuff that made back then such an awesome time, then DO NOT skip over this store. The store and the owners/staff are literally fantastic as well as the services and inventory they offer!
This review is for the salon inside vintage alley. The store itself is super cool and has tons of great stuff, but the main reason I come is to get my hair done.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE leilani! She is just so awesome and knows what she is doing! She is always on top of the latest trends and always knows new ways to keep her clients looking good! She takes her time and always makes sure you leave loving your hair! Need I say more? Go get your hair done at vintage alley!! Make sure to call for an appointment!
I just recently came here for a salon appointment with Sabrina, and I must say I was more than happy with my experience. When I first arrived I was excited to see all of the cool retro clothing, accessories, bags, everything a girl would need to complete an outfit....except shoes :(. I bought a dress and a killer skull clutch, but I also needed a pair of heels to go with it. It still won't keep me from giving them five stars because of their outstanding customer service. Everyone there was so inviting as I was shopping and trying on dresses. You know when you walk into some stores and the employees make you feel like crap for even bothering them to ask a question? Well, you won't get that here. You'll receive nothing but genuine warmth and their undivided attention.
Trying on dresses was actually pretty fun. Usually I dread shopping but the cute vintage-inspired clothing made it all worth while. The very friendly lady (I feel bad for not remembering her name) brought in dress after dress, asking me my preference and even helped zip me into a few! I wish I could buy every one, but they're justifiably pricey as their dresses are of good quality and just can't be found at most other stores. After a little more browsing, I sat at the waiting area for my hair appointment..
Sabrina was very careful with explaining exactly what she was doing to my hair in great detail. She even told me how to take care of it the next day since I needed my hair done for an event on a day they're closed. After Sabrina finished carefully curling and pinning my hair tight enough to last overnight, she sent me on my merry way!
Checking out, Alfred was amazing. I received a free flower hair clip ( well, two small ones that equates to one of their bigger ones) and he picked a matching one for my dress. I ended up with Stop Staring's Love dress in a beautiful deep blue with an overall lace pattern.
Overall, my experience was worth every minute and penny I spent there. I'm coming here for every event I need to dress up for.
(A bit pricey) Vintage inspired fashion shop with clothing (hats, button-ups, dresses, blouses, skirts) and accessories (no shoes, unfortunately) for Men, Women, and even children!
Salon offers Mens and Womens hair cuts, styling, dye ranging from $25 & up. Price varies per individual needs.
My first visit here about was a couple months ago and it was great! We were looking for a store that could help us out with Disney Dapper Day clothing and accessories. We found Vintage Alley on Yelp and were surprised it was so close by! We stopped by and it was an hour or so before closing. I was greeted instantly by Alicia, one of the owners. She was super friendly and helpful. We looked around a bit and were surprised at all of the vintage style clothing and accessories they had to offer. We have been living in Hayward for a while now and never new this store existed. Their wall is full of various hats which was amazing to see. I am very much a hat person, so I was super excited about it. I tried on quite a few and got feedback from Alicia for each one. I hadn't planned on buying anything since I knew the prices were pretty steep for myself, but the black porkpie short brimmed hat was just calling to me! I decided to hang on to it and look around a bit more. I later met Alfredo, super cool/chill guy, who showed us dress catalogs and a few pieces in the cabinet display. They were pretty pricey for us again, but we're kind of cheapos who generally shop at thrift stores anyway so we didn't expect to be making any big purchases here. After a bit more talking, compliments on the hat, and convincing myself, I bought the hat. It's been the best purchase I've made in awhile. It rang up to $50 something after tax, but it's my fancy, all day - everyday hat! I get compliments on it all the time and it makes me feel great. :)
Our second visit was during their first Annual Vintage Car Show event. We checked out the amazing vintage car gathering and took a bunch of pictures. We stopped in the store for a quick second, but it was so busy! We decided to spend our time their looking through the vendor booths. Walking down the strip after stopping to get something to eat, we heard someone call out to us. It was Alicia! She remembered us! I was impressed since we had only been at the shop once! She was all smiles and thanked us for coming to the event. She also complimented me on my hat. hah! It was a pleasant surprise.
I recently went back (because clearly, I just love this place.) to see how much hair cuts were. I've been needing a hair cut for awhile and I've been going to the same salon for the past couple years now. After discovering Vintage Alley, I wanted to give their salon a try. Their prices are a bit more than I'm used to, but I also get the assurance that they know what they're doing, especially with any vintage/classic style cuts. I stopped by again an hour or so before closing. As I stepped in, Alicia greeted me once again. She definitely remembered me and remembered the hat I bought, along with other items I wanted to purchase on my first visit. She asked about a pair of glasses I had tried on and I definitely wanted them after she reminded me. hah! I bought them and also asked about salon prices and mens haircuts. She quickly got me a Salon Menu with all of the pricing and info that I needed. It was super helpful. I just needed to call when I wanted to come in. :)
Salon Menu items that I needed -- Womens: Shampoo, Cut, Style $45 & up Mens: Shampoo, Cut, Style $25 & up *Prices vary depending on individuals hair
I called a couple of days later and was scheduled to see Leilani. I was running a bit late so I called her to let her know. She was completely understanding. phew! When I got their Leilani greeted me and took me to her chair. We discussed how I wanted my hair cut and she took me to shampoo my hair. She talked me through what she was using and it's benefits. Super informative. As she was cutting my hair, we talked, laughed, and it was a good time. Alicia saw me in the mirror and greeted me as well. I love this lady! She's so awesome. Leilani, had some suggestions for my hair cut/style, and I definitely took them into consideration. She told me about the product she put in my hair (some pomades and putty) and it was all super helpful. I loved how she cut my hair and the information she gave me. This experience was so much better than where I've been going for the past couple years. Despite it being a bit pricer, I will definitely be coming back here for my next hair cut!
Vintage Alley and it's staff are super awesome people who are knowledgable about their products and services.
Thanks for being awesome, personable, and super close to us! :P
I visited this business based on its good yelp reviews and I'm so glad I did. I adore everything about this place! The rockabilly style is fantastic and the prices are reasonable. The owners helped guide me through their products and I ended up purchasing a few items for my business. If I lived closer, I'd definitely frequent the business. Until then, just trust me. You'll love it! ;)
I met Leilani at the Hayward Downtown Street Fair in August of 2009. She's the only person I allow to do my hair. I've had several hair dressers and what's special about Leilani is that she's always doing new things with my hair, which I love! I get nothing but compliments from my colleagues, family and friends. The salon is very laid back, relaxed and always tons of laughs. I would recommend this salon and Leilani to anyone looking to do something new with their hair.
I love this shop. Friendly staff, gorgeous merchandise. I wish I could afford to shop here more often, I'd love to support them more! My sister-in-law and I bought her grandpa a present for his birthday here (he's actually from that era and still rocks it) and they even put it in a black gift bag with red tissue paper! He loved it, BTW! All I want for my birthday is a dress from Vintage Alley. :)
Totally in love with this place . They have an amazing selection of vintage dresses for reasonable prices and the best part is they come in all sizes .. I purchased a shirt for my father in law with music notes on it , he loved it wore it out the day we gave it to him . I also got a haircut from this place . Lady did an amazing job and I got a lot of great ideas on styling my hair as well as ways of keeping it healthy . Can't wait to go back there's a beautiful red dress waiting with my name on it ;)
Awesome shop with awesome people. I visited Vintage Alley last night and talked to the owner, Alfred and he was a down to earth guy! He was funny, sweet, and charming and genuinely cares about his community. The shop is organized, clean, and way cool. Anyone could feel comfortable shopping here!
I love this place!! I wondered in here one day on my way back to my car from an appointment. I didn't have a whole lot of time so had to make a promise to come back. I brought my husband back there before movie date night and we both fell in love. The clothes are cool, the vibe is awesome and the owners are inviting!
My husband gets his hair cut here now. It's convenient and they work around his crazy schedule - which is great!
I go in a couple of times a month to see what new goodies they have ~ and there is always something! I am a fan of Betty Paige, Betty Boop and Marilyn Monroe and I find a TON of themed products with these ladies all over. Being a belly dancer I am a curvy girl, they have lots of curvy girl products that look great on us! If you're a plus size or curvy girl and like vintage inspired products you should drop by. Tell them Angel sent you!
This is a delightful store full of cool vintage items. Everywhere you look, there
is something you're going to want, or buy for someone else. The staff is great, items are wonderful; a little vintage paradise in Hayward! We found parking right in front of the store.
Love love this store. It is the best store in Hayward. The owners are super nice and always have time to chat , also always are super helpful. The selections are great and prices are reasonable for classic items.
It is rare to find such wonderful owners who are so obviously dedicated to their shop and their customers, but you find that in Vintage Alley.
The shop itself is impeccably clean and tidy, everything is organized nicely and even the salon portion of the shop was clean as a whistle when I came in.
The merchandise is all careful picked and displayed--many top quality dresses and handbags to choose from. There is a dressing room in store so you can try before you buy. Prices were fair/reasonable.
The shop is lovely and I would definitely be interested in using the salon's services, but it is the amazing customer service that wins it for me at VA. I was really touched with how invested the owners were in me, even after a small purchase. We chatted for a while and I got some info on an upcoming car show my boyfriend and I were interested in attending. I felt like they really cared about what I had to say not only as a customer but as a person. The whole environment was warm and welcoming.
Definitely stop by Vintage Alley if you're in the area and support this amazing local business.
I love Vintage Alley!!! The staff are super awesome and friendly which I love! Lovely decor and lots of cute pin up dresses and 50s couture. They even have a salon, total one stop shop for all your pin up needs. Love this place. I have always bought my pin up dresses on online boutiques but its always better trying them on in store. Now all I need is invites to special occasions. Oh did I mention they have cute daywear too??? :)
The two lady cousins helped me today. I didn't get their names but they were super nice. I'm glad that they carry plus sized clothing and carry Fluffy items.
This place is a gem in Hayward. It's down from the Cinemark theaters on B Street. I found my way in their store right around the holidays as I saw the most darling shades in the window with Marilyn Monroe on the lenses. My sister-in-law loves love loves Marilyn Monroe. The shades drew me into the shop but to my surprise they had a wide variety of pictures and posters of Marilyn. They also have the cutest line of clothing for children, men and woman but the cutest of all is that there is a salon in the back.
The owners and staff were amazing and made me feel so welcome. This place is amazing and anyone who is in Hayward on B Street should bop right and check them out. You won't be disappointed.
Leilani is the absolutely the best hairstylist ever. I have been going to her for the past couple years and she's been amazing. Over the years she has done dyed my hair brunette, blonde, and recently this rose pink color. She's so incredibly talented and whenever I leave I am happy with the wonderful work she has done. I always get compliments on my hair and it's all thanks to her. She's definitely worth the drive to Hayward. Thanks Leilani! I can't wait for our next appointment. :)
THIS PLACE ROCKS!
I finally found a place with all the Rockabilly / Vintage style clothing I need for me and my wife. Super nice people, and a really cool vibe. I'll definitely be back!
This place is wonderful. You feel the spirit of the 50's and 60's when your in there. The hairdressers do an amazing job to cut both men and women haircuts. Leilani goes to hair conventions and returns with a lot of different ideas which always turn out great. I've never had a bad cut out of here
I usually purchase my hats in Oakland or Berkeley, but found Vintage Alley right here in my backyard. Alfred (owner) was very friendly and knowledgeable. Ended up buying two hats for a great price! I highly recommend stopping by and supporting this local business. I definitely will be a returning customer!!
I LOVE this place. My daughter told me about this place and I'm so glad she did. I walked in not sure where to even begin so many cute clothes. I have a photoshoot for pin up that I've never done before and not sure what to wear .The owners were adorable there are a couple and they were so helpful she dressed me up like I was a doll and so happy to help too she made it so much fun I found the perfect outfit that fit my body type. And it was reasonably priced . I wish I would have known ahead of time so I could have booked my hair there too. Now I'm so excited to get my pictures taken and look cute in these clothes I will be back because there were some other things that I wanted to get. This place is amazing I wish there were more stores like this. THANK YOU !
Love my haircut and highlights done by Cindee. She's friendly, fast, talented and reasonably priced. This is a great little shop and salon in the fun section of downtown Hayward.
This spot is a gym in Hayward. Is a really dope and quaint spot. They have all kinds of playa hats in old schoo chill fedoras. People in here are awesome and really friendly. They have a hair salon in the back which I find to be really dope as well.
They have some awesome shirts here too! I plan on getting quite a few things from here now and in the future glad that I stumbled across this spot when walking.
This place is awesome!
My son needed a haircut so we made an appointment with Leilani.
Great work!!! My son is ready for his school picture! Definitely coming back!!!
Very talent stylist! Friendly family type atmosphere Actually Vintage Alley is ran like f family. So if you want a good hair cut around very nice talented people I recommend you go here!
I'm always buying dresses here which is to die for! I've recently got my hair cut and I love it! I recommend the clothes and the hair stylists. The ladies know what they are doing and I leave feeling great!
I've been going to various hair stylists for 20ish years and I finally found a permanent stylist in Sabrina! She tells you step by step what she's going to do and wants to be sure you're getting what you want. I've had two haircuts now and my 8 year old got her first real haircut/hair-do with Sabrina! It turned out so great! My daughter loves it and also loves the fact that it makes her look older :)
Sabrina is amazing! She's sweet, caring and incredibly knowledgable and talented. She's a wonderful hair stylist and barber and know how to do any kind of vintage style you can think of. I have super short hair and it's tough to find someone who can cut it right, she nailed it! She also bleached my hair with ZERO damage, which was pretty incredible! I highly recommend her for all of your hairstyling needs in the bay area!
Nice clean shop in the heart of Downtown Hayward! Nice and friendly staff, if you have any questions in regards to hats, talk to Alfred (real nice guy) Have any questions about the shop?, see Alicia (very friendly)
I got my haircut with Leilani who is really nice and takes her time to assure you are happy with your cut. I went in for a haircut and I received a beard trim and a hair wash ! Made me feel like a Hollywood Star. Highly recommend any of you to stop by when in downtown Hayward. Guys, if you like hats, good hair products and cool tees, stop by. Gals, if you like retro dresses and purses (Sourpuss or Lux De Ville), this is the shop for you !!! By the way, the music that plays in the shop is awesome as well.
Awesome staff and a great variety of clothes and accessories, I love to browse and window shop and introduce this place to family and friends.
I love this shop! Great place to get some cute clothes and get my hair done. The staff here is all incredibly friendly and down to earth. I've had Leilani do my hair a couple times now and she always does an amazing job. I always feel like a million bucks when I leave!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Everything about this boutique and salon. The whole gang there are pleasant and welcoming! The hair stylist are GREAT.I find it upsetting when people leave reviews about what they say their not told about the process of changing ones hair color to another color every time I'm in there I hear the stylist explaining how long the process is and that it can take more than one session to get to the color someone wants. The stylist accommodate many clients who are running late and even no show for their appointments. The people who no show are disrespectful to the stylist.Take in to consideration that if someone would no show and not call to cancel with you,You wouldn't like it! Keep up the GREAT job Vintage alley
I love this place!
I was so excited when I heard a shop that sell retro clothing was opening close to me. It took me a year or so to finally make the trip but when I did I was not disappointed. I love the vibe of the shop and the owners are so friendly. Now I am a client of the salon, not a lot of places can do a true vintage cut but Sabrina knows what she is doing. She has gotten to know my hair and my cut is just great. I can set my hair for a truly vintage look or just leave it natural and its great either way. I always wind up purchasing something from the shop. Even my boyfriend loves the shop.
Popped in whilst attending the car show, which they host so brilliantly, and what a gem of a place this store is!
They have a wonderfully eclectic and gorgeous array of clothing and accessories for both guys and gals priced pretty well, especially when on sale, and the staff (Veronica & Co.) is lovely - so inviting, helpful and friendly.
Thank you and hope to visit again soon!
